The QUILT!
Our friend, Joan, in California created a lovely silk quilt for us. We were able to chose the colors and approve the design but this is a true expression of her artistic and sewing talents. The rhythm, flow and fine craftwork is all her. Beautiful in all aspects! And, in case you are interested, she takes commissions!

11/15/08 Same Sex Marriage Rally in Chicago
Today we attended a California Proposition 8 protest rally in front of the Federal Plaza Building. Rallies were coordinated across the nation against this act of legalizing discrimination.

22,000 married couples are now in legal limbo with their rights removed. Had we still lived in California this would be us.

Same sex marriage rights are civil rights. Religious blacks, Mormons, Orthodox Jews and the Christian right joined forces to help defeat Prop 8. Now it can be said these groups have their hate in common.

Clearly there will be struggle to claim this needed change. We invite all to examine their own views on what love means.

Tim and Brian

Watch video from the day.

More Red Ball Project
Being around this red ball makes you feel so insignificant. When I went. I was mesmerized and just stood and stared. The artist, Kurt Perschke, was there and gave a talk about the work. It is him in the photos.

RedBall Project
Curious artistic endeavor.

Sponsored by Target. Is the independent artist independent? Outsmarting the corporate entity that is using his work by creating a discussion around artistic integrity? Blind to all but ego and enjoying new fame as a pop artist? Provocative and original?

We're getting a kick out of this ball and have visited it now in several locations. You decide.

Trapped in a car while hail falls in Chicago
Brian and I decided to go to dinner and was trapped in our car for about 15 minutes while hail pummeled the car. -Tim

Summer in Chicago has official begun with a sizable hail attack. Seriously, these nuggets were the size of large hommeny and we felt like we were on the inside of a tin with coins being shaken around. -Brian
